reepicheep Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 So I got me some Sennheiser HD 558s today, the most expensive headphones I've ever bought, and I'm curious how other people listen to their music or play their games or whatever. I had JVC HA-RX700s before this, and I have a set of kind of crappy Logitech speakers (never use them). What do you guys use? Quote
Shooter585 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I have headphones made by Sony, I don't know what they're called because they're probably about fifteen years old. The padding on the ears came off about five years ago. I'm sort of surprised they still work but at this point I have an emotional attachment to them so I like that :P Quote
zooey Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I've been using a set of sennheiser hd280's for something like 4 years now, but I find myself using crappy in-ears much more often on campus because my sennheisers are too big. Quote
Leo Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Sony earbuds: http://store.sony.ca/ex-series-earbud-headphones-zid31-MDREX50LP//cat-31-catid-All-Earbuds?vva_ColorCode=000000&_t=pfm%3Dcategory Bought 2 for $20 on sale at Walmart, and the pair I'm using right now has lasted since December '13 which is pretty awesome. Great quality too. Quote

If you don't mind on-ear phones, the Sennheiser PX-100ii's are really nice and compact. You can fold them up to store them. I use them when I go jogging and biking. Nitua Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) I have a Logitech USB headset. Forgot what model number. Not too fancy but it does have handy labels like "L" and "R" to show me how to properly wear it. Thanks Logitech! They were like, oh, I wanna say $30 but it may have been $20. EDIT: After 2 minutes of research, these are H390s which apparently are $40 but I'm pretty sure I paid less than that at Wally World. Edited March 5, 2014 by Nitua Quote
Guitarguy Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 JVC HA-RX900, at the suggestion of somebody in the tech forum a while ago. I use some crappy Sony earphones (I'm not saying that Sony is crappy, just that this particular pair is crappy) whenever I'm not using the computer, because the aforementioned JVC is all big and bulky, though of good quality. Sobend Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Mine are made from Sony and cost 20 bucks. I don't understand the point in expensive headphones honestly. Quote

Well, they're completely unimportant if you don't care, that's true :P I don't mind paying more for them because 1) I wear them whenever I'm on the computer, which is a lot 2) I listen to a lot of music, the higher the sound quality the better. If they're anything like the 700 (well, they're presumably better), I'd say you made a good choice. I couldn't tell the difference until I was loaned some sennheisers for a few days. It's honestly well worth the money in my opinion. Edited March 5, 2014 by Zooey Quote
Sobend Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I've tried a pair of a friend's who bought theirs for around 100 dollars I believe. I did notice a small difference, but it was not worth the money in my opinion. It all depends on how much you value your music. Quote
Shooter585 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I know people who have spent hundreds on their headphones (or their parents have). It does sound better, but I don't really want to budget for something that I'd use maybe twenty minutes a day and is only slightly better. If I got it as a gift I'd feel spoiled. If you use them a lot and music is really important to you then that's different though. Quote
Sk8skull Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 i'm pretty ghetto i use normal headphones out my iphone but i use sonys for my skillz Quote
Egghebrecht Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) got a pair of Panasonic RP-HJE450E-R (in ears) for taking with me and a pair of Bose OE2 (big headphones) for use at home when I can't use the speakers for the computer (for playing shooters or similar very noisy games) Edited March 6, 2014 by Egghebrecht Quote
O hai im KAMIL Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) Mine are made from Sony and cost 20 bucks. I don't understand the point in expensive headphones honestly. It's hard to tell the difference indirectly, but if you directly compare the two headphones in one sitting (i.e. play the same song and listen to it in both) it will be very noticeable. Crisper, clearer sound, stronger bass, volume and w/e. There's also other features like noise-cancelling (which is amazing) and good equalizer control. Heck, I'm using a ~$70 headset and the difference between that and generic $15 headphones is well worth the price. I do agree that there's a certain threshold where enough is enough, but I digress (don't hurt me bob-sama :o). Edited March 6, 2014 by O hai im KAMIL Quote
Toto Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Had a pair of Klipsch X10s, that I got for like $80, for just under a year before they got a short in them and when I sent them in for the warranty they upgraded them to X11is, so that's what I currently use when I'm virtually anywhere except my desk. When I'm sitting at my desk though I use my Turtle Beach X11s I bought like 5 years ago for my Xbox 360, and they work great. Quote
