Guitarguy
I got a Steelseries Apex RAW keyboard about a week ago. A seemingly trivial but quite devastating problem has struck me. Often when I press the "d" key, it pushes twice. The second nonexistent press has a slight delay from the first one, I've noticed. For example, if I try to type "dilapidated" it might come out as "dilapidadted" or "dilapidatedd". This simple problem decreases my typing speed considerably, and it can have furstrating consequences in many games. Since I received the keyboard, I don't remember doing anything that would screw it up. Also, the problem may or may not have existed in the beginning. I might have just thought that I was making silly typos out of habit, but recently I've become increasingly aware of how cumbersome it is. I switched back to the default macro setup, and nothing changed. The problems persists when using it on another computer. Any thoughts? O hai im KAMIL
Could be some dust/crumbs settled under the key? If you can, pop it off and spray some compressed air inside.
Guitarguy
Could be some dust/crumbs settled under the key? If you can, pop it off and spray some compressed air inside. The way in which the keys are arranged sort of prevents anything but specks from getting inside, but I sprayed a can of air to no avail. Would it help if I took it apart and clean it or something? Though it's only a week old, so I don't see why dirtiness would be a problem, and I'm not sure I can safely pop off the part that would need cleaning. Well if you get a keycap remover you should be able to do it (or just fashion one out of a paperclip). If that doesn't work then it's just a defective cap and you should RMA. Tigerwing0
*Sorry for the non-helpful post, but I couldn't resist* Maybe your computer just wants the D?
Guitarguy
dd d d d d d d d d d d d d conglomerate conglomater conglomerate conglomerate conglomerate conglomerate conglomerate qwertyuiop[asfghjkl;zxcvbnm, qwertyyuioipl;kjhgfsazxcvbnm,m., dilapidated EDIT: Whoops, I posted on instinct. I'll update this soon. dildddddddd dilapidadted dilapidated dilapidated didlapidadted didlapidatedd didlapidaddted dilapidated dilapiddatedd It hasn't improved. I thoroughly can-of-aired both the key and the pressy thingy. For some reason, when I pressed the little rubber thing it successfully gave me only one d, but when I put the key on, it gets screwed up again. I'll see what happens if I replace it with another key. *Sorry for the non-helpful post, but I couldn't resist* Maybe your computer just wants the D? It wants more Ds. What a harlot. EDIT: After replacing the D with the identical "MX4" key, it's still not working. This is interestingly frustrating. The interior of the key looks identical every other one. To recap: -Taking off the key and pressing the rubber thing, there seems to be no problem. -Putting the key back on, no matter how much I clean it and the interior, the problem persists. -Even replacing the D key with something else doesn't eliminate the problem. -After thorough inspection, the interior of the key looks to be the same as every other one. Any suggestions? Edited April 5, 2014 by Guitarguy
Aabid
When this happened to me, I think I cleaned it and it worked again. Can't really remember what was wrong. >.< Edit: I think I just smashed the keyboard. Edited April 5, 2014 by Aabid

O hai im KAMIL
@@Guitarguy go to Control Panel -> Keyboard -> Set 'Repeat Delay' to Long and see if that fixes it. I doubt it will since it's only happening with the D key, but it may help. Also have you downloaded the latest version of your keyboards firmware? Short of trying those two things, then it looks like a problem with the rubber dome/keycap. If you have a spare keyboard at home then RMA this for a new one. 20000_Posts
You just bought it, return it and have them send you a new one. In the mean time, use a regular spare keyboard.
Guitarguy
Yup, nothing works. I'll see if Ebay gives me a proper refund. Thanks for the help.
