-Leaf-
Have you dared to challenge this mighty arachnid menace yet, or are you still cowering in fear hoping that someone will guide you through the fight? If you have already fought him, recount the tale of your horrible demise here! What strategies did you try? Which parts of the fight did you have trouble with? edit: Ok so... The leg swipe attack is good enough in theory, but really doesnt work in practice. Each of Rax's legs has a MASSIVE click area, and when he swipes, you have an extremely high chance of misclicking on the leg instead of running away. Also, despite how large his legs are, the attack seems to only be 1-tile range. The instant kill green spiders in wave 3 are indistinguishable from the green spiders you have to lure to Rax except for the bar above their heads. Too many times I ran towards it because I mixed up the two. Near the end of phase 3, Rax's dps is so high that I all I can do is eat, and can't fight back at all. That phase consumes a full inventory of food, leaving me unable to finish phase 4. edit: SO ****ING CLOSE Edited August 4, 2014 by -Leaf-
Jna
I'm cowering in fear hoping someone will guide me through the fight. Anyways, it seems to hard and I'm pretty bad at bossing so I guess I'll wait a couple more days before event attempting.
Sobend
I want to do this but I don't stand a chance. Seems like you need t90 range or mage weapons and I don't have either. I suppose I could give it a shot with a royal crossbow. I saw a picture of someone who did it with dual chaotics. Is it easier duo?
Jna
I haven't seen anyone attempt duo, but It's supposed to be twice as hard, mechanics get harder, more spawns in second phase, etc.
O hai im KAMIL
Yeah I'm not going to be doing this for a while.
Sobend
I haven't seen anyone attempt duo, but It's supposed to be twice as hard, mechanics get harder, more spawns in second phase, etc. Not a huge fan of that. It will basically make everyone solo it. I really dislike the 200k instance fee when the QBD, KK has free instances. And Vorago requires large teams so there is not need for an instance. argh. I think I'll do this once so I have something to write about for the newsletter thing but obviously not going to kill it. Not 96 summoning, no ascensions, no devotion, yada yada. Seems like the best course of action is super restores and saradomin brews. Wear 3+ Sara/zammy warpriest items and leviathan ring for damage reduction. Shooter585
I'm going to try to duo it later, we won't be able to kill it though. I personally have the levels suggested but my gear is level 70 tops. Also any bosses meant to be soloed should have free instances. Micael Fatia
May give it a try once I get 96 Summoning, but we're talking about months here probably considering how much I've been playing lately. Should at least have the best equipment available by then not counting the T90 Wand + Orb, getting Ascensions might be doable if I put some time and effort in it, but to be honest I probably won't lol. Let's just hope Virtus Wand/Book or C Staff will be good enough.
Sobend
Leaf did you mainly use brews or rocktails? You also may want to think about a combat familiar for the last phase so you can just dodge the crap. And I love the retro dreadnips
-Leaf-
Leaf did you mainly use brews or rocktails? You also may want to think about a combat familiar for the last phase so you can just dodge the crap. And I love the retro dreadnips Mainly brews, but I should really switch to rocks for 3rd and 4th because you take so much damage that brews don't heal you fast enough. I think I made a miscalculation, seems that brews are 2 ticks per drink now instead of 1. There is a possiblity that raxi is immune to familiars. I guess I could try a nihil instead since ponies don't seem that useful. Also, rhinos are really damn hard to dismiss. I have to wait until raxor does the web shield so I'm not under attack. I'm worried about how to keep yaks alive after rhinos go extinct on rs. I might be forced to use Wicked Pouch + Spiritualise Food (god I can't believe that spell might actually become useful) I keep forgetting to resummon dreadnips cuz I'm too busy with everything else. Dreadnips only have lv80 accuracy and something like 1k damage max hit, so they don't help much anyway. a pile of additional notes for myself/others Coccoon duration is reduced if you use a defensive ability, but does any defensive ability work? Anticipation and freedom definitely does, but devotion and reflect seem like they might too. Devotion and Reflect will be canceled by the coccoon attack. Resonance and Debilitate get put on a short cooldown when raxor spawns the fire bomb. Not sure about any other abilities. Shield on phase 2 until the minion buff is done. Otherwise, you can easily dps raxor down to less than 5k hp, which is bad because he is invincible past that point. Bombing the eggs or spiders will increase raxor's rage a fair bit. I think it averages about 30-40% rage if you do this for all the eggs on phase 2, but can't remember. Getting raxor to swipe his own minions will increase his rage. This seems to be true even if the minions do not die from the swipe. Killing the spiders yourself might increase raxor's rage, but if so it's significantly less that bombing them. Does killing the egg-spawned spiders without the bomb reduce raxor's minion buff? I don't think so but I can't be sure. Does raxor's minion buff decrease every time he summons minions, or only when that batch of minions all die? Luring the highly acidic spiders MASSIVELY increases raxor's rage. I don't recall how much, but I think it's 25% per spider. I will try to ignore them until the end of phase 3. What do they even do? Raxi's intro cutscene can't be skipped and takes long enough to drain about 50-60% adren. Raxi's rage meter seems to not be connected to raxor's at all. She starts at 50%. It is possible to pray switch against raxi, with a similar technique to how glacors worked pre eoc but raxi switches styles much faster. Are raxi's mage attacks faster than her range attacks? Raxi will pull you in every time she uses the swipe, unlike raxor who only does so about half the time. I could try to keep moving but this would make prayer switching much harder. I should try using a different action bar for raxi. Rapid Fire is a very bad idea when she is below 25%. Putting deflect range, deflect mage, and soul split on there may be a good idea. and a question for anyone that has Sara/Zammy warpriest: is it possible for Warpriest to save you from the green spider's insta kill? Since Jagex said that its max hit is 32k (I would assume exactly 32767 because that is 2^15-1), if Warpriest activates it should only do 3276 damage to you. It's not going to be easy to get people willing to test this though. Edited July 29, 2014 by -Leaf-

That would require you to give up on using better equipment such as nex or ports though, for a 10(?)% chance of not dying on an avoidable attack. -Leaf-
took me like 25 attempts. I can now get to raxi every time, but it's always that damn black acid attack that gets me. I was wrong, raxi's swipe does not always pull you in. but it does seem to do so more commonly that raxor. Probably nothing but a graphics glitch, my head gets stuck in the pillar. South path just opened today. Definitely the easiest path so far. Simply step into the patches of light. I'm not too sure about the matrix dodges though. I can't quite tell from which direction it is going to attack me. Will definitely need screenshots for reference. raxor gains the special mechanic of the phase 2 path you chose when entering phase 3. With the south path, he gains the ability to darken the room, though only temporarily. Raxi also gains this ability. Idk if he gains anything new if you already depleted the minion buff on phase 2 north. On phase 2 south, raxor can still summon eggs / fiery bombs. After 50% hp, raxi stops using all special attacks. Also it seems that she attacks more rapidly but that might be my imagination. .......... also the target name glitched, probably because i clicked through the cutscene. Apparently you have to do 3 kills to be able to do so. Edited July 30, 2014 by -Leaf-
Sobend
I just went in to get some pictures for the newsletter. I figured I could get to phase 2 or 3 but I the cocoon got to me and I died like halfway through phase 1 I would practice more since I have tons of brews and restores in my bank, but... 200k instance fee. Shooter585
How do you get out of cocoon? I tried freedom ability, nothing happened. I tried walking elsewhere, nothing happened.

You can't but you can reduce the strangle by using anticipate/freedom before it.

Spam the ground, you'll break free eventually. I'm definitely going to try this boss in the future, maybe go for some Noxious weaponry. Looks like a lot of fun to kill, I watched A Friend / Regicidal's full kill videos, and A Friend is officially the luckiest person to ever walk the earth. tea pls
I have not yet tried this boss, but will very soon, i'll be using ascension bows w/sirenic or death lotus, leviathan ring, thinking about a shield for debilitate timer extension. I have also purchased the "Poison Purge" aura, this aura converts poison damage to healing. Sounds very OP for rax. The aura works 10 minutes at a time for a cool down of 60 minutes, so if you can do 10 minute (roughly) araxxor, this aura would help substantially. The poison may be part of Chris L's hints regarding 'thinking back to the old days' maybe when poison actually mattered and it was not something easily shrugged off as it is today in EOC. ~chants~ bring back disease! -Leaf-
thinking about a shield for debilitate timer extension. I've been doing that the whole time, incredibly useful. The aura works 10 minutes at a time for a cool down of 60 minutes, so if you can do 10 minute (roughly) araxxor, this aura would help substantially. I'm been using the 20 minute version of it, and for some reason it always seems to deplete before 20 minutes are up. Maybe raxor reduces the timer on it, idk. ~chants~ bring back disease! It's been confirmed that they won't. In lieu of that they are considering using more targeted stat debuffs. After all, what's the point of getting your woodcutting level lowered anyway?
