Making money, starting at level 3

Recommended Posts

I thought we'd just collect the best ways to make money here, so you can afford top of the line gear and everything. This isn't for me; I just see people who are relatively low leveled ask this in the cc and it would be nice to have a place to direct them to. Yes, there is a money making topic somewhere but it's outdated.

And currently the list is incomplete obviously.

Pvm

Beginning: Do daily warbands and slayer until you reach either 81 slayer and/or 85 herblore.

Things you can do in this beginning stage:

  • Chaos Dwarf Battlefield. AFK but requires Forgiveness of a Chaos Dwarf quest. Look out for loot beams periodically. Leaving a clan or friends chat may help because the beam lasts only 10 seconds but the message alerting you of a beam stays in the chatbox forever, but may be pushed out by chat dialogue. Avoid use of degradables.
  • Frost Dragons; 3m an hour. Normal antifires should do the trick, but you may need to use food.. Try using a stabbing weapon. Major issue with this is that it requires 85 Dungeoneering and probably some magic notepaper.

Kill the QBD or ascension monsters (gladii, roarii) until you can afford drygores. Continuing with warbands until 96 Herblore is wise as well.

Join a nex team or continue with QBD until you have at least 95 prayer, 96 Herblore, and more tier 90 equipment.

Skilling- Some people don't like killing things over and over, so I thought I'd include this

Runecrafting

  • Go to the Runespan at level 1, keep training until level 59 Runecrafting
  • At 59, craft double cosmic runes via the abyss, which can be ~2m per hour
  • At 82, you can craft double astral runes. Depending on the GE prices, it may be better than cosmics.
  • At 91, you can craft double natures. Again, check GE price to see what is best.

Herblore

  • Train normally or do daily warbands until a certain level
  • Make unfinished potions (water and a herb) and sell them.

Crafting

  • Do Shades of Morton
  • Repair the temple and create sacred oil by using olive oil with the sacred flame on world 88. ~1m per hour and very AFK.

Non-combat Magic

  • Plank Make at level 86 Magic.
  • Humidify clay at level 68 Magic ~2m/hr
  • Tan dragonhide (try doing green) using Lunar spell ~2.2m/hr

I don't know how good the gathering skills are for making money these days, but I doubt they go past 1m an hour.

Other

Managing Miscellania - Do both quests involving the area, and put 10m (max amount) in. Expect around 160% on returns if using proper allocation (I do mahogany logs).

Player Owned Ports - Can make millions per week with about five minutes of work each day. However, you'll need to be doing this for around a year and must have the proper levels to start Ports and make items (it's level 85-93 for everything).

Shop buying - buy out shop materials such as feathers, broad arrowheads, yak hides, chocolate bars, battlestaffs, elemental runes, seaweed, vial of water packs -

Freeplay

  • Kill Hill Giants in the Edgeville resource dungeon. Pick up the bones and limpwurt roots. ~250k gp/hr
  • Run muddy keys to the Lava Maze, take only the valuable stuff (you should not take anchovy pizzas). This is the best f2p money making, I think about 400k/hr if you're good, but muddy keys take awhile to buy. For max efficiency, use a gem bag.
  • Mine adamant ore. I like to do this at the hobgoblin mine, wear full batwing and shield and you won't need food. Hop worlds. PKers are so rare here you don't even have to think about it. You can also superheat by mining the coal to make your trips last longer, I'm not sure if this is better though. 70 mining required, 70 smithing if superheating. 200-300k gp/hr
  • Kill greater demons in the Forinthry Dungeon, use rune arrows. 100k gp/hr, plus it is best range xp for freeplayers that I'm aware of.
  • I think doing air runes is something like 200k/hr at 66 runecraft, obviously the higher the better, haven't done that recently though.
  • Ideally, you should just buy a bond and make money using one of the members methods, assuming you play one hour a day and already have decent stats.

Comment/tweak this/add stuff.

I'm not well-versed on members money making, here is some freeplay stuff.

  • Kill Hill Giants in the Edgeville resource dungeon. Pick up the bones and limpwurt roots. ~250k gp/hr last Summer.
  • Run muddy keys to the Lava Maze, take only the valuable stuff (you should not take anchovy pizzas). This is the best f2p money making, I think about 400k/hr if you're good, but muddy keys take awhile to buy.
Put multicombat on so you don't have to wait to kill the next demon.
  • I think doing air runes is something like 200k/hr at 66 runecraft, obviously the higher the better, haven't done that recently though.
  • Mining rune. I haven't done this in several years because they drastically reduced the amount of f2p worlds. I mined rune about a month ago at the lava maze, sometimes hopping to f2p worlds, and about half the f2p worlds had pkers sitting there. Kind of sucks too because there is no kbd lair so your options are kill them (doable if you are early in your trip), dying, or running all the way to 20 wilderness. Lots of competition in the mining guild resource dungeon, but it might be better than wilderness.

I'm probably forgetting some, I posted a long list somewhere but that was in June last year.

Good list! I'll probably try some of the F2P ones next time I play.

Dancing for money in Lumbridge is also quite profitable. -.-

Camping the Chaos Dwarf Battlefield took me from Bankrupt to owning a pair of drygores in around 2 weeks.

The best part is that the combat requirements are very, very low, and it's extremely easy to survive, and you can get a lot of kills even by being afk.

Avoid the use of degradables, and do something more interesting while checking chat box for golden beams periodically.

Frost dragons?

Concerning the muddy key lava maze thing, is it 400k/hour with or without a gem pouch? I think that's an important detail.

Probably with a gem bag, considering it takes forever to get into the lava maze even with the lodestone teleport.

I think I'll test this out soon. I have a bunch of muddy keys from the Chaos Dwarf Battlefield. They're around 1k each. Not sure if it's 400k profit/hr or just 400k revenue/hr. Buying the muddy keys probably cuts into the 400k an hour a bit.

Stuff has been added.

According to the RS wiki it's around 4k profit pey key. Apparently the keys are 3k. Drop the mithril dagger and the pizza.

So if you can open 100 chests an hour (should be doable) it's 400k/hr.
