Regarding those posts about the button to skip all the combat, that would be like watching porn for its storyline and not the intense shagging.

It kinda depends on the game. If the story is good and the shagging isn't intense but rather painful, dull, and repetative, it might be worth avoiding.

Ugh...

Ok maybe it's just me but a lot of Bioware's games definitely fall under the crap combat. I mean playing through Dragon Age once wasn't that bad but the second time it was extremely painful. I would love to do another playthrough but the Deep Roads...

Oh and after playing Mass Effect 2 for too long I just crave a proper third person shooter so I need to pop in Gears of War so I don't lose my sanity.

Something tells me you're just not doing it right, or you're severely clueless, because you're basically calling the combat in both DA:O and ME2 horrible, which is just not true no matter how you see it.

Now for the main reason I came here.. has anyone tried Kingdoms of Amalur and could tell me if it's worth the timeinvestment or not? :o

I haven't played it, but my friends who have say it's very good. Top tier RPG. There's a demo on Origin if you want to try it out.

EDIT: DE:HR and Mirror's Edge are both on sale for crazy low prices. Get them.

Ootachi (and Max): I know it's good, and I have the game, I'm just curious if it's good enough to warrant it being the game I play on the very limited time I have until summer, which is why I look forward to Max's comment on how he felt the game was.

Theking: Aren't you kind of the only person around that care about ArmA around here? Nice enthusiasm though. :P

Anyone have Dear Esther? Thinking about getting it, but the trailer honestly makes it look like the game is about walking around an island. :P

That's because it is just walking around an island. It does look interesting and I would like it, but I don't want to pay £6.99 for it.

@yuan

i'm not sure how much you've played but as of now i've put around 4-5 hours in and all i can say is that its a great game, there's never a moment of "why am i still running to this place"-thanks fast travel tongue.png

combat is fun if not wow like(actually the whole game is like a singleplayer wow) but the story is really good, not even following the main story atm doing this huge questline about the Fae

i'd give this game a 9-10/10 right now

if there's something specific you want to know just ask

I haven't even installed it, I just wondered if it was good enough to prioritize over other games when I'm done with Arkham City.

If anyone's interested 'And Yet It Moves' is a great game, on sale for £2 on steam, neat little puzzle/platformer with a unique art style smile.png

No not terrible just annoying. DA:O has the same enemies you kill over and over and over again. Many times there is a huge lack in variety in the fights. I enjoyed it once but by the second run through it was more of a chore.

ME2 was similar but it got old faster. On the hardest difficulty it's just spam a few powers or shoot, wait for your shield to get back, and spam/shoot some more. The difficulty comes not from harder enemies but just from annoying enemies. They all just have huge shields and armor and you have so little so it's off to cover and rinse and repeat. The only hard fights in the game are when you have multiple YMIR mechs come at you but that's only cause those things take forever to go down. A few Collector fights rank up there but it's more because Harbringer and Scions absorb bullets like a frickin sponge. I've beat the game with multiple classes (favorite so far are engineer and sentinal but adept is going alright) but I've had to space them all out because if I don't the game becomes a chore.

I'm not saying they were bad but that they get boring and tedious. Bioware's most fun combat is when they either fully embrace DnD traditions (like in Kotor and everything before) or when their systems are just broken (like ME1 biotics). :suncloud:

@Joyful Lemon I got And yet it moves in a Humble Indy bundle a while back but it didn't work after I installed it and didn't bother trying to find the problem because I had these other games to play. Was that a mistake?

Decent game if you're into that sort of stuff, but you're be better off getting a humble bundle 3 key if you're after a good deal.
