Anyone play Combat Arms? Oh man I put a lot of hours into that game. Only gripe with it (other than the hackers and lack of mod controls and stuff [this was like a few months ago so idk if it's changed]) was that you couldn't put the character details on low! I don't understand why, really. The environments would never slow me down, but whenever I had more than 8 players on screen (all set on high detail forcibly) I would have crazy slow down.

Anyone have it installed know if you can set them to low? If so I'd probably redownload it.

Played EU when it first game out apparently its just got worse and worse though

I only play that "Survival" or zombie mode now. But not much, though.

I downloaded it a few months ago. The whole enemy being able to see me through walls turned me off.

Welcome to wall hacks, we have jackets -.-

It was quickly hacker-infested. It was alright if you were actually good, but the ability to buy characters and points to spend turned me off. Other than that, my usual kit was all about speeding myself up; light vest, beret, &c so I could run faster and jump further. To the point that people were calling ME a hacker for being able to move so bloody fast and for being responsible for so many of their deaths. What bugged me more, however, was the inability to kick problem players. BTW I last played roughly a year ago... maybe longer ago.

It's probably been a year or so for me too.

Battlefield Heroes and Quake Live are also some free shooters if you want to waste some time.

I realize the game is based more around conquest than empire, but what other differences are there? It almost seems like it was going to be an expansion that got big enough to be a full priced game.

I'm going to quit playing online on Xbox and hopefully start on Pc. With the Free Membership, free name changes and a lot of trailers and demos free, it seems better than Xbox online.

The problem with going purely pc is that games that aren't major releases come out very late on the platformer. EA is even talking about stopping support on the platform with its lower tier games (ex. dead space). There's also exclusives that are going onto PC less and less. Alan Wake on pc has been cancelled and it seems that Gears 2 and Halo 3 will never make it to the industry's oldest platform. Having a balance is best as you can see. You'll get all the benefits of the PC. and day one games. Hell, AC2 hasn't even made it to PC yet!

Part of the reason EA is thinking this way is because they aren't tailoring their company to the market; they're forcing their company on the market. Many gamers have been quite dissatisfied; high prices and low entertainment values. The problem is the PC format works for some games but not all, just like the console format works for some games but not all. I would NEVER play a FPS or an RTS on a console. The controller simply sucks for the task. Grabbing Steam and buying the weekly special is one way to go about things.

I really want my M11x now -.-

That Alienware laptop? It's not HORRIBLE but it's still overpriced. The GT335M is, if memory serves, similar to the 9800M GTS in speed. For $800 (plus $100-200 after-market upgrades... RAM and hard drive) it's still not bad, but I dislike the 4.5lb weight... though it's much better than their other laptops. It's just REALLY ugly. Still, if I wasn't paying for it, of course I'd take one.

I want Halo 3...

Its a possibility for it to come to PC.

Halo Combat Evolved was released for PC some years after Xbox release.

So with Halo 2.

I just hope Halo 3 will follow.

Its one of the best games of all time second to Twilight Princess IMO. -.- (I like good storylines. have you ever noticed that Halo: CE had a more heartless storyline then Halo 3? In Halo: CE you just kill the covenant and you dont really care what happens when the ring is blown up. In Halo 2 you get to know how the covenant is, it gives you a look at how they live. And in Halo 3 MC even goes through High Charity in order to find Cortana, and he saves the Arbiter in the end. Isnt that a big difference?)

I mostly want it because of it's portability. In the summer I have a campground I go to and it'd be nice to be able to have a PC there for gaming.

Rome total war is an interesting breed. Simply put yes, it's VERY good. It's just not a game for everyone. You play as a faction that has a few towns on a 'world' map and try to conquer the 'world'. You manage cities, taxes, leaders, generals, and armies. It's all very simple though once the tutorial is played. Battles are a rock paper scissors type game with movement. Positioning your armies is KEY. If your not very fast with RTS's that's covered too. Pausing the game and then issuing your commands to all squads is a great tactic. It's satisfying to issue commands to everyone, hit play, and watch your army crush the enemy. Winning battles is very rewarding especially when your outnumbered. Luckily enough if you outnumber your enemy by a ton you can just autoplay the battle which will be judged on units, unit type, general, and a few other minor factors.

Bought TF2 and fallen in love with the spy class.

It's great fun backstabbing, running away, re-disguising then backstabbing again. My favourite thing to do though is find a sniper that's half-asleep then taking ages to get a perfect shot with Ambassador. :)

EDIT: Probably going to try the scout tomorrow.

PC Gaming is much funner and less time to set up then taking out a console, getting a disk, put in the disk, turn it on, change the AV channel, connect the controller, select the game disk.

Pc Gaming -> Click and play. Unless it's an EA game. If it is. You need to get the disk.

I lost my Orange Box CD Key. I would've tried out TF2.

For games that require a disk I just pick up a no-cd cracked .exe. That's what I did for Morrowind and it's been such a lifesaver.

When you first installed TOB it will be tied to your Steam account and you can simply redownload it or install from the CD. I installed it on my Win7 RC using the CD key, it tied to my account, then insert the CD on my final Win7 build and hit install. No key needed.

I actually found that it was MUCH faster downloading and installing from Steam than using the disc... for both L4D2 and TOB. I stuck the CD key into Steam and hit Install. It's done 10-30 minutes later and without me having had to be clicking anything

I guess that really depends. My internet is kinda really slow (300KB/s down) which equals to about 1GB/hour and when you have games that are multiple GBs I end up waiting hours just for it to download, then I have to install.

Hmm. Looking into that Laptop now. Seems pretty good. I do need to buy a laptop myself to complete my gaming set up. It does actually seem.....pretty fudgeing good at a fair price for what comes with it.

Shall I or shall I not...I'll be able to afford it within the next month.

Reason for Edit: Never mind what I said here. I didn't know you could actually upgrade this. Because usually most "Express Family Chipset" whatever are not upgradable. Apparently this one is. ;D
