-Leaf- Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 I can't stop wondering what Jagex was thinking when they introduced boss practice mode. They already have a superior system they can activate at any moment. The BETA servers. Hell, they are even activating said servers this month, in the same month that they release boss practice mode. Now, let's compare the two. Boss Practice mode offers: No penalty for dying Beta servers offer: No penalty for dying Ability to "spawn" in any location (import function) Free food and potions Ability to obtain any tradable weapon or armour that you normally can't afford All they need to do is to simply have one Beta server active and running parallel to the live servers, at all times. Development time on boss practice mode was completely wasted. The 2000 person server limit has been shown to be more than enough, and crowding is not an issue because all the hard bosses can be fought via an instance. I for one will be hosting any boss practice sessions in the Beta servers, for as long as they are active. Posted this as a suggestion because I really wish Jagex would listen to this, but either way I know for a fact they don't read the suggestions section on this forum. Quote
Sobend Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Somewhat agree with this, they could just make a practice server. Quote
Micael Fatia Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Yeah I agree, when we look at it from that perspective it's easy to reach the conclusion they wasted time for no good reason. Much more practical to just use the Beta servers seeing as they are superior anyway due to all the features the normal game lacks as pointed out. Quote
Luvandpower Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 I disagree. In the beta you can use whatever trade MY PRECIOUS weapon you can get your hands on. While boss practice is that...you can get creative and learn from your own current setup. It's like nomad original all over again! LIKE A BOSS Quote

LIKE A BOSS It's your choice if you want to use dual ascs even if you only have a royal crossbow. If you really want to practice, you would just use your normal setup on the beta server. This is actually a pretty good idea and I'm disappointed I didn't think of this sooner :P Quote
KaBob Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 It would be nice if they just kept a "creative mode" server active at all times for stuff like this but I doubt that practice mode is taking much dev time so it doesn't seem like that huge of a deal Quote
Chaoss Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I think it's a good idea, but it's going to populate the Beta servers for the wrong reason in the end. They want the Beta servers to test changes, not allow freebie kills on bosses. Were the day to come where it fills up (I doubt many people will even be practicing bosses, but just for the sake of the argument) you might have 2 different populations of people sharing a server designed for one function. A boss testing server isn't going to take days of dev's resources. The fact that the Beta servers exist actually argue your own point. They have the means to make a server like this, and fairly easily too. It would take, what, maybe a couple hours of just making sure the settings are right that it doesn't affect the real game, and voila. Then some QC testing and it's done. Quote
tea pls Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Personally, i liked practising on BETA servers, but the annoyance of no real in game gain other than minutes added to your 'time played' counter, is what i actually liked about practising on BETA. I see little to no difference in adding it to the game, it adds sophistication to instances in general, the game is actually starting to turn in to a real MMO in this sense if you ask me. I doubt this took much dev time either, more just programming and gui... that crap is easy for them to add. Instances themselves gives them a base model, they just nuke the xp and such. Decent idea but i think it's great the way it is :s Quote
