Hey all,

I was thinking about getting back into the game again just casually. Just wanted to get some opinions from you guys. Is it worth playing again? If so, OSRS or whatever they call the the current game (EOC or something?). I'm not sure what's changed in the last 3-4 years (probably a lot), but any tips for somebody starting over from scratch are always nice.

I think it's worth playing! I got back into it about a month ago maybe? and I started by getting back into RS3 and found it to be pretty fun. Then I started playing OSRS and am enjoying it a little more. There has definitely been a lot of change since 3 or 4 years ago hahaha! I would suggest playing RS3 and seeing how you feel about it and if you're not enjoying it too much you can always play OSRS which is the game back in 07! (With a few really cool additions).

Oh and welcome back! :)

I got back into it by playing OSRS maybe 2 months ago, beforehand I had quit RS3 for about 8 months. I still only play semi-actively, but I really like OSRS so far. It's a nostalgia trip for sure, and once I get bored of it I will probably head back to RS3 because it's been close to a year since I've touched it.

You could start playing again but it just doesn't feel the same, sure it feels a little nostalgic but it's not the same RS I fell in love with. But who knows, maybe you'll enjoy it more than I have recently.

There's still a good number of people in the clan chat (Sals Realm) so if you do decide to get back into it, there are plenty of people to help you out :) I got back into RS3 after about a year of not playing, sure not as long as your break but I still thoroughly enjoy the game.

There should be plenty of faces you know in the clan chat so if you I'm we'll help you get back upto speed with the game.

Play OSRS yo

RS3 doesn't hold a candle to the classic rs experience imo. There's a few people from sals decently active on old school like Zazzy, Jordan, Zapy, Wetdoomseal, and Kissrocks are ones I know for sure

Exactly! Play Runescape Classic, the Original Original Runescape! The community is incredibly talkative and combat will make you sweat bullets. Not to mention the graphics. They are practically indistinguishable from reality. This comes as a blessing and a curse; I have a friend sitting in the slammer for trying to train thieving IRL. Better watch out.

I'd play both OSRS and RS3 and see what you feel is best. It's impossible to know what you'll like best besides the general PVP=OSRS and PVM=RS3.

I think he's right if you're looking for the "classic" runescape experience. Obviously Runescape classic is more "classic" but you get the point. If 2005-2012 me played RS3 right now I would have no idea what was going on, if that person played Old School then I would have no problems.

Honestly, I'd give RS3 a try. Get into a clan, they've come quite a long way and I think there's some new updates in the very near future (or just past) but a clan will help you with that motivation to continue playing which myself and many others seem to struggle with. OSRS is great and all, but honestly, it seems to be only good for nostalgia purposes and after awhile I begin to question why I'm redoing the things I did many, many years ago. Some people might enjoy that but I personally do not. :P

I didn't spend my time on Runescape so I could go back and redo it whilst still having access to that original account, except on a platform which is exceptionally better. Also, I had a seriously hard time coming back to RS3 after EOC because I hadn't even been around during the BETA so I was completely in the dark when I first came back. I think easing into Legacy helped a bit, but if I had been able to use the Legacy interfaces with EOC combat like we can today I would've been much more advantageous. However, I still came out pretty happy and am now working towards maxing which is something that I've always wanted to do.
