Sobend
These days so many people seem to be averse to PvP and I don't understand why exactly. PvP is pretty intense and makes the game fairly exciting, but the majority of the playerbase avoids it when possible. They like other intense things, like Vorago, Raids, or Araxxor, but not PvP. Why do you avoid PvP?
Chaoss
The simple reason for me is that I just don't like the feeling of losing items that I spent days/weeks grinding for. I've been trying to get the Chaos Elemental pet drop (while farming Elite Clues) and I'm risking about 6k worth of materials. When someone comes to PK me or something similarly, I just let them drop me, because I know I'm in there at a minor risk. The other problem is that my account is just not built for PvP. I'm 136 combat with three combat-based 99's. Magic, Defense, and Constitution. My skill stats are all above 70, mostly in the 80's, but with nothing 90+ besides 99 Fletching (which doesn't help in PvP). In a matter of steps of entering the Wilderness I'm attackable to anyone with full 99 combat stats, who can potentially be a maxed player running an inventory of rocktails, overloads, another class of armor/weapon.. and of course another yak full of rocktails. Maybe I could compete as a mage, but once the other person has an advantage of potions and beasts of burden, I'm severely outclassed. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not complaining about that. If I wanted to put in the effort to make my account competitive, I would, but I don't really see the monetary gain from it. PKing someone would net me, if I'm very lucky, some drygores. That's supposing I find someone skulled, smite their prayer, and (this is the important part) actually kill them. I'm not good with chaining abilities, they will probably outclass me in that as well. I'd rather sit at KK with some friends and kill it 30 times in 90 minutes and pick up my 1 drygore from that. The only part I might like about PvP is the thrill of it, but I get enough of that from PvM that I don't feel like I'm missing it. Great question though, I'm interested to see other responses. -Leaf-
because the metagame is centered around material gains (xp and gp) rather than "excitement" and honourable PVP provides negligible amounts of either.
Jj Dynomite
I'd rather allocate my time to make efficient progress to my goals and my goals aren't pking related so the wilderness serves mostly as a deterrent in that aspect.
O hai im KAMIL
I don't think it's that people hate PvP, it's just that there's really no reason to do it as it doesn't make XP/GP (like everyone else said). If you look back to the World Event 2 which had PvP, a lot of people participated in that, which shows that people are willing to partake in it given the right incentives (*cough* WARBANDS *cough*)
