Disk Usage Problem

I recently spent $1200 NZD on a pre-built computer. I get it home, and after running it for a little while it froze completely on me, and I did the only logical thing - I restarted the computer. This fixed the problem temporarily, but every hour the computer would freeze again with restarting being the only solution. After about a week of this, I checked task manager while the computer was in it's frozen state (I was still able to open and close things - barely) and discovered the disk usage was stuck at 100%. I returned the computer to the store, explained the problem, and after a week picked it up, only to find that the computer was completely unfixed despite claims from the technician that it was fine (his text was in broken English too so I don't even know if he knew what was wrong with it).

 

I've tried looking online for solutions about the disk usage. Every hour, like clockwork, after restarting my computer the disk usage jams at 100% after being normal the entire time. None of the online solutions are working, and I have no idea what's causing the disk usage to do this. It's extremely frustrating. I'm posting this in hopes someone has any ideas or can offer me any help, it would be extremely appreciated. Cheers

format your disk and do a clean install

if that doesn't help get (them to give you) a new disk

 

 

 

but start with the format so you know for certain whether it is a soft or hardware problem

I'm now having more issues. I tried to reformat the hard drive, and was told I needed to install my windows installation or recovery media. I plugged in the USB stick that came with my computer. When I bought the computer, Win 10 was preloaded on, but they gave me a case that contained the security key I used to activate windows and a small USB stick that I believe houses windows 10? I plug it in to my computer. The computer recognizes it, but the reformat process does not - it still gives me the same error. So I got another USB stick of mine, backed it up, and attempted to make a recovery drive out of it - and now my computer decides that it has files missing, and isn't capable of making a recovery drive. I'm so stuck.

I think your harddrive is kaput

 

you might want to get them to give you a new one, or buy a new one yourself and skip all that drama

 

 

make a backup of the files you want to keep

download a new windows 10 installation file from microsoft website (fits on an 8gb usb stick)

replace your drive

 

and do a clean instal from that usb drive

If the disc is 5400 rpm then it is probably Windows Search Services (if you are windows 10), 100% usage on slow disks is pretty normal in Windows 10.
