Fatalysm Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 (edited) This is just throwing it out there and seeing what people think. I dislike clutter and you go back into some forums and on the first page it's down to 2014. I think merge old categories in with others and be done with it. I don't think it's totally needed, but then what is on a forum on the internet, might just look a little nicer. Chaoss Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 I'd keep Fun & Games and Scape Lounge separate, I agree with changes to General Chat though. In general I think most of the subforums with a front page of 2 years ago can be condensed. Quote
Fatalysm Posted June 12, 2016 Author Posted June 12, 2016 I considered condensing fun and games not because of it's content differences but more because there are only two topics with posts from this year and even they date back at least 1 month. Quote
Guitarguy Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Merging Polls & Surveys into General Chat seems agreeable. After all, they're virtually identical in terms of content with the exception of the fact that all topics in Polls & Surveys will be polls, but the latter will already be delineated at first glance at the topic. However, I'd say I lean against merging Breaking News with General Chat. The content is quite distinguished from the broadness of "general chat." I suppose its nonexistence would even end up with its content possibly redirected to Entertainment or The Debate Room, for that matter. I suppose merging RuneScape Media into one would work. Two of its subforums are exceedingly dead, and it would be active enough with everything together. I don't know much about the guides section, but I feel like getting rid of the "Guides in Other Languages" section wouldn't be beneficial. I don't think it was ever meant to be very active at any period of time; it just serves as a placeholder for what otherwise wouldn't have much of a home. As for merging Forum & Site Feedback and Forum & Website Help, eh, I feel like those two are too distinct to be lumped together. This does raise the concern that one of them says "site" while the other asymmetrically says "website," however... I don't have much of an opinion on anything else, but I believe such changes as merging the Scape Lounge and Fun n' Games should require some discussion. Quote
Sobend Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 We could consider this but IDK if it will actually change anything. Quote
Kemosabe Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 I'd go as far as to merge general chat with entertainment, IMO. Quote
Fatalysm Posted June 13, 2016 Author Posted June 13, 2016 We could consider this but IDK if it will actually change anything. It doesn't change much, just makes it look nicer also might be more appealing to people who come here if they 1 aren't bombarded with forums and 2 those forums are inactive and they run away...Also we'd need an administrator to help.......LILSHU WAKE UP MATE. Liberate the dead *forums*, return a hero. Quote
Egghebrecht Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 personally I see no point in changing the board structure it won't make the place look more active because there aren't even enough active threads to fill one page and it won't help bring new members in either but it won't do any harm either Quote
Yuanrang Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Eggh is absolutely right about that. If the change alters nothing, then it is a pointless change to make. In fact, I would say it would make things a tad more messier for those of us that enjoy to go back and browse old topics for memories and nostalgia. Cosmetic alterations will not change the fact that activity is at an overall minimum. I do not think that consolidating all forums under a handful of subsections would be efficient since it would not really address the actual issues. Besides, at this point and numerous attempts, I think it is safe to say that we will not be able to boost activity to any old state. 'tis an inevitable fact that all must come to terms with. Quote
-Leaf- Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 RS suggestions and marketplace are obsolete due to runelabs and GE respectively, and not a consequence of lack of forum members. Remove them. Quote
Angel Hayley Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Runelabs is getting removed. In general, Jagex rubbishes everything we say, takes everything in the wrong light and treats us like garbage so what were we really expecting out of it? Quote
