Steam sales

I'll be looking at the all the very very cheap games, probably buy anything around £1. You do find some gems.

Then i'll probably be looking through and get a few more expensive games. They'll probably end up doing some developer specific sales. I can't think of much that I want though really. Maybe i'll look and see if a few games like Dark Souls 3 are dropping down. I could probably get the dead space bundle for stupidly cheap at this point.

So what do you want to get?

What did you buy already?

I'm going to be as Zen as hell and exercise the maximum restraint on buyi---oooooh SHINY

(no, seriously, I have more than enough games at this point, especially given that I've found Fallout 4 season pass at a discounted price already and both it and EU4 are HUGE tracts of land time sinks...)

I've got an entire list of games on isthereanydeal.com (great website) but I suspect most of them won't fall low enough. I'm mostly curious about games that aren't currently on my radar I guess. And potentially Elder Scrolls Online and Pillars of Eternity. I don't anticipate spending too much though.

skip pillars of eternity, not good enough

there are enough great isometric rpg's, you don't have to play the mediocre ones

play divinity OS, shadowrun dragonfall and hongkong to name a few

I'll keep that in mind. I might just ignore it until it's super cheap then.

just bought the assassins creed pack, got em all now except for the first one

now to enlarge my windows partition so I can actually install them :P

ENLARGE YOUR WINDOWS PARTITION WITH THIS SIMPLE TRICK

Also, oh, bloody hell, ETS2 Scandinavia for six euros and Gat Out of Hell for four. And EU4: the Cossacks for 7, but that's still a bit too high. :(

Yuan and/or reepi: is The Stanley Parable worth it? (I see you both in the "dudes who have this game" box)

*cough*

I have not played it, but the recommendations I got for it was absolutely jawdropping. It is a small game, but an awesome game nonetheless, from what I can tell. The only reason why I have not played it yet is because I just have not had much time for Single Player games these last few years, but rather massive MMOs. >.<

Judging from the new format of steam sales, I doubt you will get any major discounts for a while. Removing daily and flash deals and sticking with a flat price seem to have made publishers set the discounts lower than the old sale format did.

...which is a bit disappointing. :/

Eh, Cossacks will drop, but the other games are rather well-priced.

Now to hide a 15 euro purchase by yours truly's better half...does anyone know if Steam can anonymise purchases like pr0n sites do? :P

No, no, didn't buy Cossacks.

2,39€ The Stanley Parable

5,39€ Euro Truck Simulator 2 - Scandinavia

2,99€ Survivalist

3,74€ Saints Row: Gat out of Hell Released

74% total discount, not bad

Also, ETS2 developers sassy as hell

/announcements/detail/687178745442097985"]UK remains in ETS2

The game isn't fortunately called "European Union Truck Simulator", so all is good.

I am seriously considering Dark Souls 2 (I did not think it had a discount, but I had wishlisted the outdated (and non-discounted) game), but then again... Witcher 3 is so damn massive and immersive. >.<

I am 30 hours in and just hit level 8, and I am not nearly done with the very first zone you are put into after the training zone. This feels larger than Skyrim.

Sometimes the feeling is worth more than the actual area...take the first Just Cause, it was ***immense***, but that meant it was a bit of a chore to travel through it. The second was a bit less massive, but still a bit of a chore...yet absolutely addictive :D

Also I bought the high power cargo pack for ETS2, because hell, why not, at least I'll have the complete game (except the whole decorative DLCs, screw them), now to install ProMods and park the truck at full revs under your house... :P

EDIT: hrmph, the map stops in Bergen. *miffed*

First of all... I guess it is because most people consider Norway a bit like Canada, with the majority of the important stuff as far south as possible. Anything from Trøndelag to Finnmark is pretty much a lot of roads and nature though, so I can see why it would not be particularily exciting? I do not know, I am not familiar with Euro Truck Simulator. :P

That said, travel in the Witcher 3 is not really a chore at all. If you look at this interactive map, you can remove all markers and enable the ones for "Sign Post", which is the game's fast travel points (go to one sign post to travel to any sign post), plus you get a horse which you can call anywhere and is pretty damn fast. The weird thing is that the game is so rich, I never use the horse and only use Sign Posts when traveling unreasonable distances, simply because I always come across stuff. It does not have to be loot, but it can be a cabin in the woods where the mother and children were murdered in their beds, while the father was hung up at a nearby tree, an obvious victim of war.

I mean, this zone is huge, and apparently it is only the level 4-10 zone. If you liked Assassin Creed's "travel around, finding stuff, doing stuff" system, this is the same. It is a bit more combat orientated and not parkour-orientated, but damn, this RPG is awesome. Especially the story is great, and sidequests seem to have a bit of thought put into them as well. Gudhak stOOf thus far. :D

Apparently the expansion DLCs are actual expansions too, with 30-50+ hours of content. I can easily forsee myself spending over 200 hours on this game before I finish.

Euro Truck Simulator, despite what the name could convey, is actually rather fun (and if you use mapmods, heaven help you). This mapmod includes Finland up to Rovaniemi, for instance, and goes as far south as Donostìa/San Sebastian in Spain and Bologna in Italy. It's...strangely relaxing, yet addictive as hell. Must...bring...one...more...cargo...

It's pretty cool, I still need to play through it more. I wouldn't call it mindblowing though.

Installed the latest assassins creed I bought in the sales and played a bit this weekend

Upon first opening ( and after the gazillion of stupid extra updates and installations that caused on winblows) the game started automatically on the highest resolution your screen can handle without asking you for your opinion on the matter nor using the automatic built in check to see if this is wise.

crashes and hilarity ensued

runs fine with graphic settings on max and resolution set to one notch above full HD

for 5k I lack like 4 or 5 extra graphic cards I think :D

I'd love to be a fly on the wall near those who process crash reports... :xd:

Yeah, god damn.

Hah, I would love to fork out the money for such a rig and a VR headset. I can easily afford it, but the next two years will become a bit financially uncertain due to me wanting to buy a newer car model and also buy a house and furnish it properly, so I am not entirely sure as to how much I can spend on that kind of expenses. That said... let us be fair, it is Ubisoft. As if they actually read all the crash reports they receive. :cute:

As for Steam Sale... Probably picking up Dark Souls 2 shortly. I know I have hundreds of hours of Witcher 3 left, but I have been making myself attack some uber hard challenges on Witcher 3 (playing on Deathmarch, the highest difficulty), and trying to beat impossible odds (best so far is a level 12 and a level 20 creature at level 5) by pure skill.

The game is wicked fun, and the questlines are... rich, disturbing and... it really puts you on the edge to think about what the hell you are doing. I came across a sidequest where I had to look through a tower on an island. Fair enough. Found that all the inhabitants were either undead, dead or ghosts. Fair enough. Found a survivor who lamented that when a mob came to kill her and her family, she drank a concoction that put her to sleep. This made her beloved, who witnessed this, flee the isle because he thought that she drank poison, cursing the people who were about to rape his beloved before she took this potion to escape. Turns out, the curse took effect, killing the people on the island. The woman who drank this sleeping potion however, was the only one alive, so when the rats came to feast on all the bodies, they ate her alive while she was conscious. The protagonist then meets her ghost where she tells her story from her point of view, and then... you get two choices.

1: Bring her remains to her beloved now living off the isle.

2: Bring her beloved there to try to free her from the curse.

Got to say... you really got to think things through as to what you want to do, and holy hell... these sidequests are of a high quality. I have ran into a few like this, and they really have reprecussions to them.

This is turning out to be the RPG of the 2010s, and I am not saying that lightly.
