Weird screen issues when launching client

Sorry if this is the wrong section to post this. Their official forums won't let me post anything. Anyway, hi. I'm having a critical issue and have not seem to have found anyone else with it. I'm running Ubuntu 16.04. I just installed Runescape about 30 mins ago. When I launch the game, it causes my ENTIRE screen to go black, and come back for a split second, then go black again. This makes it impossible to do anything on the computer at all. I have to press the power button and get the timing right to click the logout button. Again, not even logged in to the client yet, just clicked to open it, loading screen pops up and everything starts going black. Why? If I manage to get the launcher closed, it doesn't stop btw.

Have you checked your drivers? Are you using proprietary video drivers or generic linux drivers?
