Something dark is stirring in the village of Witchaven. This once prosperous fishing village has an ancient secret sleeping beneath it, one that could spell a dark fate for the inhabitants of RuneScape.

Why are the villagers behaving so oddly? What has happened to Mayor Hobb to make him look so strange? Why has Col. O'Niall retired from the Temple Knights to such a forlorn place? Will Ezekial Lovecraft ever find a friend?

Begin by speaking with Sir Tiffy Cashien in Falador park. He will inform you that your processes to enter the Temple Knights is complete, and that he will give you a new mission, in Ardougne. He will tell you to report to Colonel O'Niall.

startdialog.png

He will give you a secret code in order to speak to him. He will also update your Commorb.

If you do not have one, Tiffy will give you another. Either way, you'll get a Commorb V.2.

clikkfer.png

This is a map that could be usefull if you have trouble finding some people during the quest.

Witchaven is located east of Ardougne. Go find Colonel O'Niall. Begin by talking with him, and he will tell you that some odd things are happening in town. Ask him every possible option, and go on to the next step.

missiondialog.png

He will tell you to go speak to the following 3 people :

Mayor Hobbs, Brother Maledict and Fisherman Holgart.

speakto.png

Begin by speaking with Mayor Hobbs. Something is fishy about him! Ask him everything you can. He will tell you about a Shrine to Saradomin, and he will ask you why you are there. After you are done speaking with him, Savant will contact you on your Commorb. She will tell you that he definetly sounds weird, and she will ask you to scan him. Scan him with your Commorb, and she will tell you that there are 2 lifeforms emanating from him.

Head to Brother Maledict. Once again, ask him everything you can. He will tell you that most villagers have been changing in the last few weeks, and that Mayor Hobbs is renovating the old, untouched Shrine.

hold.png

Go speak with Holgart, from the fishing platform quest. He will tell you he cannot sail anymore, since the Mayor made some new sailing laws, and that because of that his boat was taken from him.

golook.png

Once you have sucessfully spoken with all three of them, head back to Colonel O'Niall. He will tell you to investigate the Shrine next. Go to the bank and grab some food and armor if needed.

shrine.png

The Shrine is actually the dungeon from the Family Crest Quest, and it is located west of Witchaven. Go down inside. In the first area where there are some hobgoblins, there should be a secret wall to push on the east side.

secretwall.png

Push and it go through. You should be in some kind of tunnel with agressive, level 45 Giant Lobsters! There is also an agility shortcut you can use to save time.

giantlob.png

You don't need to fight them. Make your way through the tunnel until you reach some strange doors with 2 big temple knight statues.

deppshrine.png

You will see some sea slugs coming out of the door, and you will also find a Dead Sea slugdeadslug.gif. Pick it up, Keep it, and Savant will contact you. She will be worried when you pick it up, but it is dead. Now, go near the Big Doors and scan it. She will tell you that the markings are some quite familiar saradominist transcript.

joralltalk.png

She will give you a Note of the Door Transcriptiondoortranscript.gif. You will now be directed to take this to Jorral.

jorall.png

Jorral is located between North West-Ardougne and the Gnome Stronghold, to the east of Arandar Pass, in a small structure. He is the main character from Making History Quest. Jorral will translate the text. As you speak to him, he will think that you are speaking to yourself. Savant will contact you and she will tell you what to tell to him. He will tell you about a battle between saradominists and a strange evil creature.

texttran.png

Once that is finished, Savant will contact you again, and she will inform you that the Mother Mallum is behind all this, and she will also brief you shortly on her.

mothermallum.png

Go back to Witchaven. Speak with Colonel O'Niall again, and he will point you out to go speak to Brother Maledict.

familymale.png

As you head to the church, you will be interrupted by a strange cutscene. Someone will exit the church and say "Welcome to the family, brother Maledict!". Speak to him again. Strangely enough, he his no longer himself and will act oddly. He will say things such as "We are maledict". Ask him about the Shrine, and he will inform you that the history book pages have been stolen.

pagestoel.png

Time to search for the pages of the book!

You will need to find 3 pages.

  1. The first page is on Mayor Hobb's Desk Downstairs.
    deskewae.png
  2. Speak with Ezekiel Lovecraft from the Fishing shop for the second page.
  3. Colonel O'Niall will give you the last page. However...

onialcorup.png

When you speak to Colonel O'Niall, you will notice that his beard has turned white... and his skin yellow! He has been corrupted! When you have the torn page, you will wonder if swamp paste might do the trick. When you try using swamp paste on it, Savant will stop you. She will tell you that you must not use swamp paste on that page, and you should use the deard Sea Slug glue on it, but you will need to find someone with years of experience in seafood cooking.

Go speak to Jeb, and ask him to take you to the fishing platform. Go speak with Bailey, who is located on the South-west Corner of the fishing platform. Make sure you have your dead sea slug. Now that you have Some glue, use it with any of the torn pieces of page 3. You should enter a Puzzle Screen. Move your pieces and flip them if needed to get something like this :

Puzzle.gif

There are 3 pieces, and you must put them together. To move the pieces use the interface on the right. You can also rotate them and flip them. The correct set-up should look like this :

correctpuzz.png

Once you have all your pages, you are ready to do the next step. You must craft some specialy shaped runes. This may fail sometimes, so make sure you make extra blank runes.

doro.png

  • Use the Shape- Air, Earth, Water, Fire & Mind etc Options from the pages by right clicking on them.
  • You must have your chisel in your inventory as well as Rune Essences.
  • This should give you a Shaped Blank Rune. This may fail. These shaped runes must them be empowered at the appropriate altars.
  • You must go the altars (Use talismans/Tiaras/Abyss to get in)
  • Empowering them may fail and destroy the shaped runes.
  • You should get Enchanted Shaped Runes.

airdoorrune.gifdoorearthrune.gifdoorwaterrune.gifdoorfirerune.gifdoormindrune.gif

Once you have them all, go back to the Shrine doors. Before you go, Grab your Melee combat gear and some food. Go back all the way to the Shrine doors, Place your shaped runes, and the doors should open.

dooropen.png

You will be interrupted by a short cutscene and you will see Mayor Hobbs. You will have a brief conversation with him. They couldn't open the doors that kept Mother Mallum in. They needed someone connected with the Temple Knights to open it for them... You've been set up! He will send the Sea Slug Prince after you!

fewl.png

You will have to beat the Slug Prince. He is not that hard and he is level 62 and has 60 Hitpoints. He can only be defeated with melee attacks.

princefight.png

Kill it, and you will get stuck in goo. Try moving, but you cannot. As you try to liberate yourself, something will head in your direction...

malumfinal.png

It's the Mother Mallum! She will come towards you! She will try to take possession of you, and Savant will try teleporting you. The Mother Mallum will try to teleblock you! After a short moment, you will be teleported to falador park. Speak with Tiffy cashien and inform him of the events to finalize the quest.

Good luck, i'm almost done the quest... I think...

Here i'll post some of what i've done so far:

Start by speaking to Sir Tiffy Cashien in Falador park. Remember to bring your Commorb!

Tiffy explains that you need to go to Ardougne... But south west of Ardougne, to a small, slightly remote village called Witchaven

Now go to Witchaven and go to the docks which should be slightly South-East of the town and speak to Col. O'Niall. He explains that the townsfolk have been acting very strangely recently and he wants you to find out why. He also hints that the Mayor has been buying large amounts of Mining tools and Rune Essence that "Witchaven shouldn't need".

I'll post some more once i finish, just if you use, please credit!

Ok for those people stuck trying to find pages, I received page 2 of 3 from the Fishing Store, just speak to the NPC there and he'll give it to you. It looks like you need 1 of each elemental rune to open the door

EDIT: 1st page received from the Mayor's Study! Just search it to get page 1 of 3!

EDIT2: 3rd and final page(s) from the Col. Talk to him to get page 3 of 3 but it comes in peices so you'll need some swamp paste, not tar, to put the pages together!

Quest done, took a while but this info should clear some things up:

When you craft each rune at it's respective alter, teleport back to Ardougne. Bring some light armour and any type of food that heals above 10 is well-suitable. Just go into the Saradomin temple and use each crafted 'rune' on the door and you'll see a cutscene; it turns out the Mayor was behind the 'strange happenings' all along.

After the cutscene, you'll come face to face with the Mother Mallum's prince (level 62) who hits low. It should be an easy fight, just keep your hp up.

Once you defeat him, you'll see a sweet special effect, of your character jumping up in the air and slashing down on the prince's dead body. Now the mother mallum herself comes out... She wants you to join then changes her mind, tries to kill you etc. you get teled away...

QUEST DONE!

Right click the pages you retrieved while you have essence and a chisel in your inventory. And select the rune you wish to shape.
